A Bit About Me

I‘ve spent more than 30 years improving businesses across the UK, Europe, the Persian Gulf, and Asia.

My career has taken me through operations, sales, business development, process improvement, general management, and small-business ownership.

Across each of those environments, I have seen the same pattern repeatedly:

Businesses often depend on a small number of people, relationships, decisions, and ways of working that are not always visible from the outside.

That dependence may feel manageable while the owner is fully involved.

It becomes more important when the owner wants to grow, step back, pass the business on, or sell.

My Background

Practical experience across different businesses and markets

My experience includes leadership roles in logistics, freight, international operations, commercial development, and business process improvement.

I’ve worked with large organisations, smaller owner-managed businesses, and teams operating across different countries and cultures.

I have also owned and sold a small business myself.

That experience has given me a practical understanding of:

  • how businesses really operate;

  • where value is created;

  • how owner dependency develops;

  • why key knowledge often remains undocumented;

  • how customer and supplier relationships become concentrated;

  • and how difficult it can be for an owner to step back and view the business objectively.

WHY I CREATED KANVSS

Owners see what they have built. Buyers see what they are inheriting.

Owners naturally see the business through the effort, history, relationships, and sacrifices involved in building it.

A future buyer sees something very different.

They look for continuity, resilience, evidence, transferability, and confidence that the business can continue under new ownership.

Kanvss was created to help bridge that gap.

It gives owners a structured way to understand how a future buyer may view the business before they decide what to improve, change, or do next.

Calm, practical, and independent

My role is not to tell an owner what they must do.

My role is to help them think more clearly.

That means asking useful questions, examining the evidence, identifying areas of strength and concern, and helping the owner understand the choices available to them.

The approach is practical, direct, and non-salesy.

Kanvss is not a valuation service, brokerage, or substitute for legal, financial, or tax advice.

It sits before those services and helps the owner build a clearer picture of the business first.

HOW I WORK

WHAT I BELIEVE

Clarity precedes strategy.

I believe owners make better decisions when they can see the business more objectively.

I also believe:

  • continuity creates value;

  • buyers buy future outcomes, not past effort;

  • risk shapes value;

  • relationships are assets;

  • and confidence grows when important claims are supported by evidence.

These principles shape every Kanvss conversation.

Owner-managed businesses across Somerset and the South West

Kanvss is designed for owners who may be thinking about:

  • reducing their daily involvement;

  • strengthening the business before growth;

  • improving resilience;

  • preparing for succession;

  • protecting the business against unexpected events;

  • or considering a future sale.

You do not need to be ready to sell.

You may simply want a clearer understanding of where the business stands and what a future buyer may notice.
